I'm Finn/Huckori a digital artist from the Pacific Northwest currently working on a Super Mario RPG remake project.
Ever since I started learning how to make 3D artwork, the first thing I wanted to do was recreate SMRPG. Though at the time I thought an official remake was right around the corner, and since I had no 3D or coding skills anyway, I pushed it aside. Years later now, there's been barely even an acknowledgement that the original game exists from Nintendo, and I now have the professional skills necessary for it. Why not do it myself?
Most of my background in coding comes from a couple of HTML/Javascript classes and one introductory game-design class. Despite knowing so little, I decided to make a playable game as my University thesis project, which meant I would have to teach myself I taught myself Unity and C#. Though all of it was during COVID's initial waves, and I was stuck in one room for months, learning was difficult both physically and mentally. Since the completion of that project, I've tried to be more lax about my pursuit of learning game design, and I think the easier outlook makes it a lot less taxing.
